A book vending machine allows students to borrow high demand items quickly and easily 24 hours a day.

HAL is the name we have given the devices that provide our Holds and Loans (HAL) service at the Camden, Bosch, and Dentistry Library spaces.

The following HAL services are available:

Camden Library

HAL-1 - This is a book vending cabinet that provides access to the 2 hour collection. All items are tagged with RFID and to borrow, you simply scan your card, remove the books you wish to borrow from the cabinet and then close the door. All items removed will automatically be borrowed onto your card.

To return items, just scan your card again and replace the items onto the shelf. Once you close the door, the returned items will be removed from your card.

All items in HAL-1 are a 2 hour loan. All items borrowed from HAL-1 must be returned to HAL-1.

Bosch Library

HAL-3 - This is a book vending cabinet that provides access to the 2 hour collection.

All items in HAL-3 are a 2 hour loan. All items borrowed from HAL-3 must be returned to HAL-3.

Dentistry Library

HAL-5 - This is a book vending cabinet that provides access to the 2 hour collection.

All items in HAL-5 are a 2 hour loan. All items borrowed from HAL-5 must be returned to HAL-5.

As with all new services, there will be the occasional hiccup, and if you experience any of these, please contact us via Ask Us Now so we can resolve them as soon as possible.

If you have any recommendations for material that should be added to HAL-1, HAL-3 or HAL-5, please let a Peer Learning Advisor (PLA) know or contact us via Ask Us Now.
